Dear Knitters:

What a marvelous time to create knitted and crocheted fabrics! Exquisite yarns arrive daily. In addition to the wonderful standard ones made from sheep, we are opening boxes full of skeins made from alpaca, buffalo, silk, acrylic, linen and paper fibers. Luxury yarns are readily available and the color palette is extensive. Designers continue to develop easily executed, detail-orientated patterns, which help the novice stitcher appear quite accomplished.

This past summer, Andrea, Lynne and I attended numerous classes and seminars. We learned new techniques for making socks, knitting lace, using short rows, embellishing projects and utilizing color. We look forward to sharing all these skills and information. You’ll want to check out our Fall Class Schedule for details.

Temptations will be offering so many exciting classes and very special events throughout the fall season---we think you’ll find at least one that will bring you to visit. We love having a busy shop full of stitchers creating beautiful items!

Exclusive Event at Temptations

photo of helen hamannWe are proud to offer a one-day seminar with Helen Hamann, internationally renowned designer and teacher, on Saturday, October 28, 2006 from 9am to 4pm. Temptations is the only Columbus area stop on Helen’s national tour. Her workshop will include detailed instructions on using short rows for shaping fabrics, techniques for weaving beautiful designs on knitted fabrics and exquisite finishing. Space is limited and reservations are required for this event that includes six hours of instruction, a signed copy of Helen’s book “Andean Inspired Knits” and a professionally catered Peruvian lunch, all for $120. Classes at Temptations

At Temptations, we make it a priority to teach you what you want to know when you are ready to learn.

To make learning more convenient for you, our teachers will try to schedule classes from our extensive class list to fit your schedule. In addition to regularly scheduled class times, we have teachers available Monday thru Saturday. Two-hour classes are $20.00 per session and help times are $10.00 per hour. Just call us to schedule the class you want when you want it!

We’re offering great new skill-building classes for knitters at all levels! Andrea Wong is teaching a series of six lace classes for beginners, socks from the toe up and Nicky Epstein’s Christmas stocking. Renowned designers and teachers, Helen Hamann will teach a one-day workshop in October and Ruth Lantz will be teaching a color-dazzle workshop in January.

Andrea Niewesk is teaching Norwegian two-color knitting on Thursday evenings and Friday mornings. Lynne Durant continues teaching advanced techniques in her “Beyond Beginning” class on Thursday evenings. In addition to “Friends Knit” on Tuesday afternoons, Wednesday evenings and Friday mornings, we are adding a special time for “Senior Knitting” on Tuesday afternoons. Blu Canary has landed at Temptations

Patty Dove relocated Blu Canary this spring from W. Bridge Street to Temptations. We now carry Patty's unique gifts and cards as well as her beautifully crafted announcements, invitations and special occasion items. Patty carries just a few invitation lines, but her strength is creating a custom card or invitation for your special event. Yoga and Yarn

Over the summer, Joanne Morrissey taught a yoga class on Friday mornings at Temptations. The class became so popular that Joanne is extending her schedule and establishing the Yoga Room at Temptations. Licensed, insured and registered with Yoga Alliance, Joanne has taught 3 to 85 year old students in schools, hospitals, yoga studios, athletic clubs and privately for the past 5 years. The Yoga Room at Temptations will extend the same personal touch and individualized service offered by our shop teachers and staff. The More You Save, The Less We Move!

Over the summer, Temptations underwent several changes, all to improve your experience in our shop. We are centralizing our products on the first floor so it's easier for you to see our amazing selection. While they last, the wonderful yarns, patterns and gifts upstairs, are discounted at least 20%.



You Can “Knit for Hope”

Our "Knit for Hope" program was so successful, that we have adopted the "Caps to the Capital" project sponsored by Save the Children. This program strives to save children around the world with a variety of initiatives, including sending them knitted/crocheted caps. Andrea Wong is donating her time to instruct knitters and crocheters in making caps. Patterns are free and you may use your own stash or purchase yarns and needles at a discount from Temptations. Join us on the first Saturday of each month to help Save the Children.
